I am an idiot...

It was Duquesnoy's 260th birthday yesterday. I was going to mention it and I entirely forgot. If you don't remember who Duquesnoy was, I suggest re-reading That Book About Le Bas.

To summarize, in case you don't remember, he was another Montagnard Conventionnel from Pas-de-Calais who went on mission with Le Bas on several occasions. He was still on mission when 9 Thermidor took place, but was recalled on 23 Thermidor. He was involved in the journée of the 1st of Prairial, Year III, and was subsequently arrested with the five other "martyrs of Prairial," Bourbotte, Duroy, Goujon, Romme, and Soubrany. Following Goujon and Romme, he committed suicide with the same blade in order to avoid being executed.

That was a bit macabre for a birthday notice, I know, but what can you do?

Joyeux anniversaire (même un peu en retard) Duquesnoy !

...And I may well have broken my ribs coughing (the x-ray has not come back yet), since it is Maxime's 251st birthday, I have made him another plaque:

Aww, Maxime. ♥

Wow, I'm finally 18. Took long enough. Unfortunately, I'm very tired and it looks like a nap isn't going to be in order today. D: But I can vote now, at least... Though admittedly that would have been more useful last fall. >.>

...That is all.

(Since I have freshman orientation tomorrow morning.) But, before it's too late, I wanted to say:

(And have a little tricolor drawing of him. Which is not at all Symbolic. *nods*)

...And especially of [profile] maelicia's birthday, a (admittedly somewhat sketchy) Maxime/Saint-Just drawing. I hope you like it!

10 août!

Just wanted to let you all know I recognize what day it is; that is, the day of the fall of the monarchy (not to mention [profile] maelicia's birthday)! I have some art for the latter and much gratitude for the former, but I won't be able to post about either of them until later tonight. I hope you'll consider it worth the wait. Until then!

Oh random ellipses employed by Google search, how I love you:

Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (; May 6 1758–July 28 1794) .... would later marry Philippe Le Bas of the Committee of General Security), ...
robespierre.eu/ - 45k - Cached - Similar pages - Note this

...I think that would disappoint quite a few people. XD

Another rather disconcerting thing I found doing random internet searches for calumnies of other Robespierristes, aside from Maxime and Saint-Just, (I'm really quite masochistic, as you can see) is really just... well, I don't know what to make of it. See for yourselves. Doesn't that seem like an odd book? And I can't find anything else on it...

Oh, and it's my birthday. To clarify, it's my 17th birthday. Sorry for any misunderstandings to the contrary. >__>

...Otherwise known as Robespierre's 248th birthday. And not to be repetitious, but:

Aside from--and always relating to--that, I have much to share. Actually, I may not be able to put it all in this entry.

But forthcoming:

-A rant about Robespierre's portrayal in various movies

-Pictures of the EvilThermidorian!Cookies I'm in the process of making

-Revolutionary artwork (if I am able)

-There's probably something I'm forgetting...

I also got a new (it actually is new for once) biography of (guess who?) Robespierre....I hope it's better than its title suggests.
