More pictures!

Unfriendly caricatures. Obviously.

I can't believe that this one and the next are both by Boze. It doesn't seem possible. I also have to wonder what Marat's sister was doing with this decidedly creepy portrait of Maxime.

What is it with pupil-less sculptures?

It's mini!Robespierre!

Why must people scupt him scowling?

Ah. *sighs* I think you can guess my feelings on this sculpture. I mean, LOOK AT IT!!! *sighs*

What is with the nose?

Why is the wig smushed?

Stupid Vendéens. This is what the medallion says on the back (since it's hard to read): "SA MORT MIT FIN A SON PARTI--ET 22 TETES TOMBENT EN MEME TEMPS. COUTHON. HENRIOT. ST. JUST. ETC. ETC."

Is it normal to stick a man and his would-be assassin face to face on a medal?

That's all for now...same questions as last time, by the way, if you would.

He does have a pig nose in that portrait--I don't like it much.

I figured people would have seen the giant coin before, but I couldn't resist posting it because it's just so awesome.

I think I'm going to have to agree with you on the statues; anyone can sketch something. With sculpting, aside from the basic talent required, it also has to be premeditated, and when you look at the works that people spent the longest on, they tend (although not always) to be the best.
