It must have worked that way: lose their money, get back their money, lose their money, get back their money, lose their money, get back their money, etc., until we reach an era in which it would be considered politically incorrect to take away their money just because apparently they're an old bunch of silly, superficial morons who don't need so much money. That's why they still have it.
