I think they did it that way because Belgium is now a profession Robert is listed under "lawyers" and he didn't do anything else noteworthy. But give the guy a break; he wasn't the youngest of them, but he was still a good five years younger than Maxime, for example.

On the one hand, you have a point; on the other, aside from being conservative scumbags, they *were* fomenting civil war, so I would say they pretty much deserved what they got. And anyway, though they would have been welcomed into the Thermidorian regime, many of them wouldn't have been happy there either, since for the most part they weren't right-wing because they were corrupt, but rather, on principle.
