(no subject)
Thursday, 27 December 2007 12:12First off, I did not get any presents for Christmas, because, obviously enough, no one in my family is Christian. Not that this would matter to me in any case, since I don't believe in organized religion. (My parents did however--inexplicably, since I completely ignored the holiday and didn't celebrate it with them--give me some horribly ugly jewelry and a book on France that pretty much calls Maxime a bloodthirsty dictator for Hannukah. Needless to say, I don't find it worth reading.) If this makes me sound at all bratty, well then, it's probably true that I am, but it's not as if I wanted *better* presents: I wanted no presents at all. After all, my only real wants present-wise are books on the Revolution, and it's not as if my parents know how to pick those out (see above). So if I save my allowance, which is essentially a present from them anyway, then I can pick my own "presents" and be much more satisfied. (I would like to be able to say that I put my cat-sitting money into it, but considering I get paid for cat-sitting in imported cheese, that probably wouldn't work out so well...)
