p. 528 (12 Thermidor, Year II): "15.
               CARNOT (1).

(1) Arch. nat, AF II, 305. - De la main de Carnot. Non enregistré."

Carnot, you vindictive bastard. Go jump in a lake. (In case it wasn't obvious, the "Le Bas" here mentioned is one of Philippe's brothers. For the report of his actual arrest by one of the representatives on mission, which actually took place before he received Carnot's order, see pp. 569-70. And to continue, p. 630 (16 Thermidor, Year II): "10.

[...] Salut et fraternité.

Do you own this Recueil des actes or have you searched the volumes online?
P. S. No, jumping in a lake certainly isn't painful enough for this kind of scum.

It would be awesome if I did, but no, they're on gallica. I ought to have mentioned that.

True enough, but I can hardly enact vengeance on someone I'm accusing of being vindictive.

Gallica is truly priceless.

What exactly were les filles Duplay accused of?

It is. I just wish it had more, because even now that I'm here, I can't go to the BNF without a note from one of my profs, and they tend to only give those out for things directly related to thesis-writing.

Being "suspect", I suppose. I don't think an acte d'accusation was ever brought against them; they were just arrested and indefinitely imprisoned. (Which was not an uncommon way to proceed either before or after Thermidor.) I highly doubt the Thermidorians imprisoned them because they really thought they were a threat, though, so any accusation which might have been brought against them would only be a pretext in any case.

Also, wtf that thing on Victoire? >:(

Also did they arrest Sophie's husband? It has to be Sophie, right?

Wtf is up with them and arresting the Duplay daughters, it so makes no fucking sense.

Indeed. D:<

As far as I can tell, the CSP never bothered to reply to Guiot, but I'm pretty sure Victoire was brought to Paris anyway. I'd have to look in the archives to know - and even then the records might not be there.

And yes, they arrested both Sophie and her husband, Auzat.

Wtf is up with them and arresting the Duplay daughters, it so makes no fucking sense.
Well, they arrested Jacques-Maurice and (eventually) Simon too. But I guess the CSP didn't deal with that directly. I think the only reason Victoire and Sophie come up here is because they were in the provinces and representatives on mission thought arresting them would be an easy way to curry favor with the Thermidorians.
