I found a play about Thermidor by Gaston Crémieux, a condemned communard who wrote it when he was in prison... Creepy and sad as that might be--not to mention the subject matter--I decided to translate it for you before I leave for New York again. Admittedly, it's not the world's best translation, but I don't think it's missing anything essential by not rhyming, and I did translate all 116 pages in only three days, so there are bound to be some mistakes and incoherencies. I apologize in advance for these shortcomings.

You're quite welcome. :D I realize it's rather long, by the way, but if you read nothing else you should read the epilogue...

Thank you. ^__^ I noticed a few errors after I posted it, so I'm glad to see it's still intelligible!

Do you need to be logged in to see the play on Google? Because all I see are some tiny extracts. :/

That's bizarre; I don't think you need to be logged into anything.

Here, try this: http://books.google.com/books?id=I6gsAAAAMAAJ&printsec=titlepage&dq=gaston+cremieu#PPP9,M1. You should be able to read the whole thing by scrolling down far enough...

It really didn't work, but that made me think to search it elsewhere: and I did find it on Gallica. :D

That's quite strange... But I'm glad you were able to find it. ^__^

The end is so wonderfully irritating and gorgeous. >.>

I'm also starting to think that the Robespierristes can be perceived this way: inspiring for the despaired who search a way to believe in this world; repulsive for the cynical cowards who don't bother about believing. I think that's really the only way to see it, and that it's the way it's been working for 200 years.

Isn't it though?

That's probably an apt description, or at least one of them...

Unfortunately, the linc on your translation answers:

"Sorry, the file you requested is not available.

Possible reasons include:

- File date limit has expired.
- File was not successfully uploaded."

Oh, I sorry about that--files only last about a week on that website. But I can re-post it if you want to read it...
